Team Bianchi Countervail launched in Milan
Marco Aurelio Fontana leads 2017 squad: “The beginning of a new dream"

Bianchi MTB team’s 26th season has officially started today, Friday, February 10th, with the official presentation staged at the #bianchi Cafè & Cycles in Milan, Italy. 2017 Team #bianchi Countervail’s seven riders and ambitions were unveiled in Milan, presenting new signing and Olympic bronze medallist #marcoaureliofontana, together with the confirmation of #stephanetempier and #chiarateocchi. As in 2016, Material Sciences Corporation (MSC) is the second major sponsor of the #bianchi MTB team, with the Countervail® brand: the innovative and patented viscoelastic carbon material which cancels the vibrations, exclusively integrated by #bianchi in the CV models.

ELITE – UNDER 23 TEAM
Led by team manager Massimo Ghirotto, #teambianchicountervail Elite-Under 23 roster for the new season consists of three bikers, two élites and one U23. Elites #marcoaureliofontana – the newcomer - and #stephanetempier will focus on XC international calendar's top events (World and European championships, World Cup), while the Italian will also enter the Cyclocross season’s most important races. A bronze medal at the 2012 London Olympics ( 5th place finisher in Beijing 2008), 3 World Championship titles on the Team Relay, gold medallist at the 2013 Team Relay European championships in Bern and multiple Italian cross-country and cyclo-cross champion, 32-year-old Fontana signed with #teambianchicountervail for two seasons.
Back to the #bianchi MTB Team in 2016, #stephanetempier achieved six wins in the last season including the Internazionali d'Italia Series' GC, a Coupe de France VTT stage and the Gimondibike. Furthermore, he was second at Roc d'Azur and fifth at the Worlds in Nove Mesto and Vallnord's World Cup round. Turning 31 next March 5th, Tempier was also bronze medallist at XCO French National championships.
Gold and silver medallist at the Youth Olympics in Nanjing three years ago, #chiarateocchi added new laurels to her palmares in 2016 by winning the Under 23 Women's XCO Italian title, the Under 23 European Cyclocross title and the Internazionali d'Italia MTB Series opening round and GC, before topping the Italian Cyclocross Under 23 Championships in Silvelle di Trebaseleghe and placing fifth in CX World Cup Italian round in Fiuggi, last month.
JUNIOR TEAM
Bianchi Countervail’s Junior team is made up of four bikers, managed by Andrea Ferrero: Simone Minotti (2002), Marco Gozzi (2003), 12-year-old Fiammetta Allocca (2004) and new-entry Vadim Bodnarenko (2004) from Russia.

Team president Felice Gimondi presented #bianchi MTB team’s goals for the upcoming season: "This year we have signed the best Italian rider, #marcoaureliofontana, thanks to Bianchi's support and the determination of our CEO Bob Ippolito. Fontana was immediately involved and focused on our project. Considering his skills, I'm sure he will score important results and he is also a great communicator who will know how to make the value of our #bianchi bikes stand-out with him . We extended the contract with Tempier, a strong rider with solid performance and #chiarateocchi, who started the Cyclocross season triumphing in the CX European Under 23 Women's race and she is expected to give us further satisfactions. As usual in our history and tradition, we'll also keep on investing on Junior Team's young talents".
