A successful musical adventure for the Jeep® brand at the 50th Montreux Jazz Festival

Last Saturday, the 50th edition of the prestigious European musicevent, featuring the Jeep® brand as global partner for the second year running, came to its end. In sixteen days, over 240,000 visitors flocked to the beautiful Swiss town overlooking Lake Geneva to enjoy 380 live performances by the 250 international artists of the 2016 Montreux Jazz Festival program.

A very special edition, also marking the three-quarter-of-a-century celebrations for the legendary #jeep brand. To honor the unique occasion of two milestone birthdays, the American brand was present with 30 shuttle cars to transport the attending artists, including Lana del Rey, Herbie Hancock, Charles Lloyd, Monty Alexander, Quincy Jones, Air, Laurent Garnier, Maria Rita, Vanessa Da Mata, Hamilton De Holanda, João Bosco, Les Innocents, Steps Ahead, Gramatik, Dj Shadow, Randy Weston, John Mclaughlin, Al Jarreau, Patti Smith, ZZ Top, Young Thug, Shemekia Copeland, M83, PJ Harvey, Charles Bradley, Patti Austin, Lisa Simone, Jamie Cullum, Angélique Kidjo, Other Lives and FKJ.

A successful adventure for the #jeep brand, offering visitors and music enthusiasts branded hospitality at the various #jeep corners on the lake shore and totaling almost 400 test drives of its entire range of SUVs.

In addition, nearly 800 visitors interacted with the #jeep Vinyl Booth  -the immersive music experience that allowed the audience to travel across time through 75 years of #jeep brand history, while the four live concerts performed at the Terrace Le Jardin by the four young music talents, Paul Plexi, Amy Yon; King and the duo Funkstörung were followed live on Facebook by 1.5 million users, for a total of 184 hours of video views.

Highly appreciated by the public were the three show cars created by the #jeep brand in collaboration with #garageitaliacustoms as a special birthday gift to honor the first 50 years of the Festival and the world of music in general: the #jeep #cherokeejazz, boasting a unique customization inspired by the wood of the guitar; the #jeep #renegadevinyl, presenting a special livery reproducing the circles on the surface of vinyl records with a 3D-effect; and the #jeep #grandcherokeescore paying homage to the musical scores. Revealed on July 1 at the opening of the Festival, the three one-offs were displayed at the most significant locations of #montreuxjazzfestival: the #grandcherokeescore was showcased at the Main Entrance Hall to the main stage at the Auditorium Stravinski, the #jeep #renegadevinyl was the star of Montreux Jazz Caféand the #cherokeejazz was the displayed at Montreux Jazz Chalet. Known also as “Le Picotin”, the legendary chalet belonging to Claude Nobs, the founder of the Festival, is a true must-see venue for any music lover.

The Festival closed its 50th edition featuring on stage the Deep Purple: a group closely related to Montreaux through one of their most famous songs “Smoke on the Water”. The timeless track was inspired by a headline-making #event which took place in 1971: a fire which blazed in the Swiss city Casino during a Frank Zappa concert. Claude Nobs saved a number of youths from the flames and Deep Purple commemorated this in the lyrics: “Funky Claude was running in and out pulling kids out the ground”.
