US women’s national team juggle careers with winning the World Championships.
Hilary Knight is part of the multi-talented US women’s ice #hockey team, who performed so brilliantly to win the 2017 IIHF World Championships on home soil in Michigan with a thrilling 3-2 final victory over rivals Canada.
They came to a new four-year agreement with US Hockey ahead of the Plymouth #event, their pay boosted from a lowly $1,500 per year to a more respectable $70,000 per player per year.
The team has an amazing record in Winter Games and World Championships after medalling in each one with performance bonuses now potentially rising to six figures annually with future gold medals.
Maternity support, along with identical travel arrangements and insurance coverage to the men’s team, were also part of a deal that gives hope to the generations coming behind who might have to juggle careers with their title ambitions on the ice.
