Larissa and Talita dominate women’s final to win gold and replicate men's triumph.
The Swatch Beach Volleyball Major Series again showcased the best of Brazil with #larissafrancamaestrini and #talitadarochaantunes overcoming Agatha Bednarczuk and Eduarda "Duda" Santos Lisboa 21-15, 21-18.
Six heated days of #competition came to a close in front of a capacity crowd with thousands of fans flocking to Fort Lauderdale Beach throughout the week to see Olympians and legends of the sport up close.
For Larissa, it was a 60th career title since 2004, the most in women’s beach volleyball history.
She said afterwards: "It was a very tough match and difficult to play against another Brazilian team we're so familiar with, but the crowd were great.
"The #people of Fort Lauderdale love their beach volleyball and they made it memorable for me."
The road to gold did not start well for the No. 2 seeds as they dropped their first match of the tournament in Pool Play. However, they responded by powering through six straight matches without dropping a set.
Agatha and rising star ‘Duda’ also had a captivating run to the final, edging three set matches in the Round of 16, quarter-final and semi-final before eventually falling to their more experienced compatriots.
Julia Sude and Chantal Laboureur of Germany took the bronze medal by defeating American duo Brooke Sweat and Summer Ross 21-14, 21-14.
On Saturday, Brazil again dominated the final showdown with Saymon Barbosa and Alvaro Filho beating Evandro Oliveira and Andre Loyola to the men's title.
