Lindsey Vonn takes her medal tally to seven after winning bronze in #stmoritz.
The American became the oldest female medalist in #event history and the first American alpine skier to earn a medal at five Skiing World Championships.
Vonn, who is still on the comeback from breaking her right arm in November, was trying to win the women’s Downhill race for the first time since 2009.
Her time of 1:33.30 was enough to secure a place on the podium behind Stephanie Venier and eventual winner Ilka Stuhec.
Slovenian, Stuhec, was one of the favourites for the title and put together a scintillating run, reaching speeds of 78mph, to beat Venier by 0.4 seconds.
Vonn’s impressive collection now boasts two gold medals, three silvers and two bronzes after making her debut at the 2007 World Championships.
She joked afterwards: “Not bad for an old lady!
“It’s been a difficult season. I’m very thankful for a medal. Now I have a medal in downhill [at worlds] in every color, pretty damn cool. All things considered, it was a really great performance.”
