Amateur #golf in a class of it own and an international flair are expected in Stuttgart at this year's MercedesTrophy World Final, when 32 teams from five continents will come together from 3 to 8 October 2016 to compete for the coveted trophy of the Nations Cup.

96 male and female golfers – the best of over 60,000 original starters from more than 60 countries in the worldwide MercedesTrophy amateur #golf series – qualified in regional and national preliminary rounds, and now compete against each other in national or regional teams. The defending champion is the Team North Asia, which came out on top of the competition last year. "The MercedesTrophy is an important pillar of our global #golf involvement", says Dr Jens Thiemer, Head of Marketing Mercedes‑ Benz Cars. "The MercedesTrophy World Final is the annual highlight of the tournament series, and offers our customers a unique brand experience, thereby strengthening customer loyalty as well as the perception of our brand as a global partner of the #sport of golf".

The participants and their travelling companions can expect a brilliant five-day programme centred on the brand and the #sport of #golf in the birthplace of the automobile. The sporting part of the programme will take place on the #golf courses of the Schloss Nippenburg #golf Club and the Solitude #golf Club in Stuttgart, where the winners are determined in three tournament rounds in all. In addition to the team competition for the equally coveted and tradition-rich Nations Cup, winners will also be determined in various individual categories.

Apart from a first-rate #golf experience, the international guests can look forward to the so-called "Mercedes‑Benz Day", which provides tangible experiences of the Mercedes-Benz brand values. After a visit to the Mercedes‑Benz Sindelfingen plant, the participants will delve into the history of the three-pointed star in the Mercedes‑Benz Museum.

Another highlight will be the visit of Martin Kaymer, winner of two majors and brand ambassador, who will compete against all participants in the "Beat the Pro" competition immediately following his appearance in the Ryder Cup. DTM record champion and current Mercedes‑AMG brand ambassador Bernd Schneider will also attempt to place his ball closer to the par‑3 hole than the World Final qualifiers in the "Beat the Driver" special challenge. Some players might even hit a hole in one. In that case, they should ideally repeat this performance on the 10th hole on Wednesday. That is where they can win the Hole‑in-One Award, a #mercedes A 200 valued at € 42,400. The participants can expect a unique special challenge at the end, the dream of any golfer, the "Drive to the Major" contest. The winner can look forward to an unforgettable visit to The Open 2017 in Royal Birkdale, and at the "Monday After Tournament" even gets the opportunity to play the same #golf course, where the winner of The Open and thus the winner of the legendary Claret Jug was determined just the day before.

The festive culmination of this year's MercedesTrophy World Final will take place for the first time in the Center of Excellence and in the Mercedes‑Benz Customer Center in Sindelfingen. Ola Källenius, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG, Mercedes‑Benz Cars Sales and Marketing, will honour the winners and present the visionary F 015 Luxury in Motion concept car. Another highlight of their five-day stay for all World Final players and their travelling companions before the return trip the following day. The international guests will all take home many unforgettable moments on and off the #golf course.
