(Whitley, Coventry 13 August, 2016)  - Local driver and #jaguar Classic Challenge regular, #marcusvanoeynhausen won his second consecutive Oldtimer Grand Prix in as many years at the Nürburgring today with a superb display of driving.

The fourth round of the series got underway on Friday, which saw in-form series leader, Julian Thomas, take pole position in qualifying from van Oeynhausen who set the second-fastest laptime to close-out the front row.

Race day brought with it a heightened sense of anticipation as the diverse mix of #racing Jaguars line-up on the start line in front of a huge crowd lining the start-finish straight. The lights went out and the race sprung to life with the sound of a grid full of classic #jaguar engines echoeing off the grandstands.

Thomas got maximum traction off the line to ensure he was first at the bend closely followed by van Oeynhausen, Denis Welch, Rainer Vorköper and Edward Boot. The five lead cars began to stretch out a lead ahead of the chasing pack with the lead swapping on several occasions before the compulsory pit stop before the 20-minute mark of the race.

Thomas and van Oeynhausen were closely matched with both drivers putting in consistent laptimes and keeping the crowd entertained.

Unlike the previous three races of the #jaguar Classic Challenge, the compulsory pitstop before the 20-minute mark of the race went by without any dramas and the leading pack were soon bunched together again until lap 12 that is when Thomas suffered a technical issue, which meant he could no longer challenge for a fourth consecutive victory of the season. This left van Oeynhausen out in front with 14-minutes of the race still remaining and he began opening up a sizeable lead of the eventual second-placed pair of Joaquin Folch and Denis Welch, which he maintained until the finish line.

Race-winner van Oeynhausen, said: “I am delighted with the win here in front of my home crowd. My fellow drivers made for an entertaining race and I had to work hard for that win. The #jaguar Classic Challenge is great showcase for the brand and for #racing and there is nothing better than seeing these stunning cars going head-to-head on the circuit.”

The #jaguar Classic Challenge saw a diverse mix of classic #racing Jaguars and Class A was won by Georg Nolte in a #jaguar E-type, while Roger Cope took Class B honours in his Mk I and John Burton secured Class D in his E-type.

The next round of the #jaguar Classic Challenge moves to Oulton Park for the Gold Cup between 27-30 August. Those drivers wishing to be part of the #jaguar Classic Challenge can visit http://www.hscc.org.uk/jaguar-classic-challenge for full regulations and entry details.
