Jürgen Klopp Always has Final Say with Opel Insignia

Opel brand ambassador and football manager #jrgenklopp steers his Insignia with autonomous follow assist through the heavy Liverpool traffic. In the process, he and his passenger, German actor Ken Duken, demonstrate the benefits of the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with automatic brake intervention. ACC enables the #opel Insignia to autonomously maintain a safe following distance to the vehicle ahead – regardless of the braking and accelerating behavior of other road users. Ken Duken then asks #jrgenklopp if this system doesn’t make the driver completely superfluous, to which the coach answers “I still make the decisions” in his usual cool fashion. The new spot for the Rüsselsheim flagship then ends with the slogan “The decision-makers’ choice”.

The new campaign from Opel’s lead agency Scholz & Friends, created under the direction of Erik Heitmann, describes the multitude of high-tech innovations that #opel makes available to a broad customer base with the mid-size Insignia model. The main spot demonstrates ACC, which constantly checks the distance to the vehicle ahead. If the pre-set safety distance is breached, the system automatically decelerates the car or, if necessary, carries out emergency braking to prevent a collision.

“With the autonomous follow assist, #opel once again underscores its commitment to innovative technology, and this is perfectly spotlighted with Jürgen Klopp’s help,” says #opel CMO Tina Müller.

From April, the spot and a range of other 15-second teasers will show the #opel flagship highlights online in selected European markets. These highlights include the personal connectivity and service assistant #opel OnStar that not only makes driving safer and more relaxed, but also ensures top internet connectivity. The short videos will be shown as pre-roll teasers on internet channels popular with our target groups and will be linked to the #opel website.
